Wedding Dress FAQs for Bridal Galleria of Texas
Planning your wedding dress journey comes with excitement—and a lot of questions. Below you’ll find clear, honest answers to the most common questions brides ask about timelines, pricing, appointments, sizing, alterations, and what to expect at Bridal Galleria of Texas.
We’re here to guide you like an expert, and support you like a trusted friend.
Planning Your Bridal Timeline
When should I start shopping for my wedding dress?
We recommend starting 9 to 12 months before your wedding.
Most designer gowns are made-to-order, meaning they are created specifically for you. Production typically takes 6 to 8 months, followed by 2 to 3 months for alterations.
Starting early gives you the widest selection and the most relaxed experience.
What happens if I’m shopping close to my wedding date?
We understand not every timeline is ideal. We do offer select rush options with certain designers, but availability is limited and rush fees may apply.
For the best experience, we recommend at least 6 months from your appointment to your wedding date. Less time may limit customization, availability, and designer options.
Should I buy my wedding dress before booking my venue?
Ideally, your venue is booked first, as it helps guide style, formality, and silhouette.
That said, we understand many brides are still finalizing venues due to budgeting and availability. If that’s your situation, we can absolutely guide you.
If possible, share your potential venues so we can tailor recommendations to your setting—whether ballroom, garden, beach, or destination.

We recommend choosing supportive people who prioritize your vision and experience.
Can I bring champagne or food?
Outside food and drinks are not permitted; however, we provide champagne, mimosas, and water during your appointment.
Can I take photos during my appointment?
Yes, of yourself in dresses. We ask that you avoid photographing other brides or the boutique space. We also recommend photographing only your top favorites to avoid overwhelm later.
What happens if I find my dress on the first visit?
This is very common.
When a bride finds “the one,” it usually feels natural, calm, and certain. Saying yes early also gives you more time for alterations and planning without stress.
Fit, Sizing & Alterations
What size wedding dress should I order?
Bridal sizing runs differently from street sizing.
Most brides order a size or two larger than their everyday clothing. Your stylist will measure you and guide you using designer-specific size charts.
How many wedding dresses should I try on?
Most brides try on about 15 dresses at Bridal Galleria of Texas. We understand the fear of missing out—the feeling that you need to see everything. Our curated approach prevents overwhelm while still showing you a full range of silhouettes, fabrics, and styles.
We intentionally include a mix of classics and “wildcard” gowns so you can confidently compare and feel the difference when the right dress appears.
Most brides find clarity when the emotional connection clicks—often after seeing fewer dresses than expected.
Can wedding dresses be altered?
Yes. Nearly every gown requires alterations. Alterations refine the fit of your dress and may include hemming, adjusting structure, adding bustles, or customizing details. This is why we recommend starting early to allow proper time for adjustments.
What if I lose weight before my wedding?
We support every bride’s journey.
This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and every bride's situation is unique. We always evaluate each bride on a case-by-case basis, taking into account her timeline, measurements, and goals.
If possible, we recommend beginning any weight loss or wellness journey a few months before dress shopping so you can better understand how your body is changing. Keep in mind that wedding dresses respond more to inches than pounds, and every body changes differently.
Most importantly, don't wait too long to start shopping. Wedding gowns typically require 9 to 12 months, including production and alterations. We have successfully guided hundreds of brides through body changes over the years, and we'll help you choose the best size and timeline for your unique journey.
Do you offer plus-size wedding dresses?
Yes. We carry a curated selection of standard, mid-size and plus-size gowns, with samples that reflect current trends and modern silhouettes.
Every bride deserves to see herself in her dress—not imagine it.
Can I bring children to my appointment?
We welcome infants under 12 months. For safety and focus, children under 10 are not permitted during appointments.
Please contact us if you have special circumstances.
After You Say Yes
What happens after I say yes to my dress?
We place your order directly with the designer. When your gown arrives, we contact you immediately to begin alterations. You’ll try on your actual gown for the first time and begin refining it to perfection.
Your dress is then steamed, packaged, and prepared for your wedding day.
